Lobster de Mayo- NYC

New York’s most prominent chefs bring the finest lobster tastings to the Lower East Side for the First Annual “Lobster de Mayo” hosted by Katie Lee to benefit City Harvest

NEW YORK CITY – Ahoy there, seafood connoisseurs! Capitale nets the ultimate catch of the spring social calendar thanks to Homarus, New York’s premiere lobster supplier. This rocking lobster ‘do sets sail on May 10, 2014 for a savory charity extravaganza that will feature passed lobster treasures and tasting stations from the city’s hottest restaurants including: Tao, Lavo, Catch, Empellon, Marea, ABC Kitchen, Gramercy Tavern, Bodega Negra, La Cenita, Marc Forgione and many more. Food Network star and current host of “The Kitchen”, Katie Lee, will host the event.

This elegant and delicious evening will benefit NY’s own City Harvest, a food rescue organization that helps to feed the two million New Yorkers who face hunger each year. The crowd of tastemakers, VIPs and honored guests will be rocking to the music of New York’s hottest DJ’s while the city’s top chefs, including Chef Michael Anthony of Gramercy Tavern, will prepare an unlimited array of lobster-related dishes.

“We are so grateful for the generous support we’ve received from Homarus, as well as all the restaurants that are donating their time and resources for Lobster de Mayo,” said Kyle Clifford, Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships at City Harvest. “Thanks to our partners, who make these events possible, we are able to come together for good food, a good cause and to raise awareness to help underprivileged New Yorkers put meals on the table every day.”

Meanwhile, the promenade at Capitale will feature a silent auction consisting of sports and music memorabilia, donated dinner packages from all of the participating restaurants and a special gift package from FreshDirect. VIP attendees will have access to an exclusive second floor lounge where they will be able to take home signed copies of cookbooks compiled by the participating celebrity chefs.

The creative forces behind this event are Jordan Elkin and Brian McGovern, co-owners of Homarus. “We are incredibly excited to launch the First Annual Lobster de Mayo celebration in New York while also celebrating Homarus’ Five Year Anniversary, a testament to the quality and consistency of our organization,” said Elkin. “We are grateful for the support of our clients, sponsors and friends that will all be attending this event,” added McGovern.

Doors will open at Capitale at 6:00 p.m., with food and beverages served until 10:00 p.m. The dress is business or cocktail attire. General admission for guests will be $295, while VIP tickets will be $450. To purchase, visit Lobster de Mayo, on eventbrite.com, and for more information, check out www.lobsterdemayo.com.
