Boston’s Annual SoWa Open Market has been held in Boston’s artsy South End since 2003 and will be adjusting to COVID. Even though things are winding down in terms of COVID precautions, the market will still be taking the many necessary precautions. The SoWa Open Market features a Farmer’s Market, Arts Market, Food Trucks, and Beer Garden; the market is held every Saturday and Sunday usually from the end of April to the beginning of September.
SoWa’s open market has been open this year since May 2 and will be thriving in the Boston area until August 1st. Sadly, due to COVID, the Food Trucks and Beer Garden will not be available, however, they are working on slowly opening them up. The Farmer’s Market will be open until October 31st. The updated safety precautions include updated guidelines on mask-wearing and sanitizing stations.    Due to the new update of masks in Massachusettes on May 29th, all fully vaccinated individuals no longer have to wear a mask outside or inside unless they’re in schools, congregated living spaces, hospitals, and public transportations. Similar to the rest of the country’s regulations, it can be up to the business on how they wish to enforce or even suggest mask guidelines. The COVID precautions the market will be taking are the inclusion of sanitizing and handwashing stations, and that despite the market being outdoors, “We recommend that unvaccinated individuals continue to wear a mask at the market”, and as usual, social distancing is recommended.
The open market features a farmer’s market filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, jams and jellies, cheeses, sauces, kinds of vinegar and oils, herbs, desserts, and more! For a total, there will be about 20 weekly vendors there, and then 20 separate rotating vendors. The vendors include some of Central Mass favorites, like When Pigs Fly Bakery, Spring Brook Farms, Red Apple Farm, Blackbird Doughnuts, and The Tasting Counter. Come visit SoWa this summer and shop some of the best, fresh foods and goods Boston has to offer!
